Our first place winner for the 2024-25 School Year is Jess Fele, a Coconut Creek resident attending Coral Glades High School. Jess submitted several pieces of ceramics inspired by Greek mythology. Jess has received may recognitions for her beautiful work, and it has been exhibited in numerous district art exhibits. Jess has been accepted into and plans to attend Florida State University in the fall.
Second place, and winner of the $500 Michele Pennetti Memorial Scholarship, went to Samantha Noel, who lives in Coral Springs and attends Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS. This scholarship is given in memory of one of our multi-talented long time members, Michele Pennetti. Michele’s husband, Michael Pennetti, created and has helped fund this annual scholarship to memorialize his wife.
Samantha submitted three beautiful drawings, each of which took her four to five days to complete. She has also received previous recognitions for her art work. Samantha has been accepted to the University of Central Florida where she will pursue a BA in their Art Immersive Experience Design Track. She hopes to start her own art business one day.
Our third place winner, Gianha Welsh, received the Sky Belcher Memorial Scholarship. She attends Coral Springs Charter School. Gianha submitted a series of wonderful graphite drawings which represented members of her family.
She plans to attend Broward College and major in business with an art minor. Her dream is to open her own coffee shop which will highlight talented local artists.
